The reason I love working with animals is because it reminds me that I am part of something bigger than myself. It reminds me of the intrinsically real connection between all things. Tuning into an animal I feel the pulse of energy as though it has always been there, waiting for me to change the channel on myself from ‘my world’ to ‘our world’. It doesn’t cost anything and doesn’t require me to mould myself, it is simply about the connection. I have always loved to work with energy and managing my own has been one of my deepest challenges. Feeling at times completely blurred by the amount of ‘world’ around me caused me to feel stuck, not wanting to move forward or be seen. Learning to work WITH my own energy means I can discern personal presence before anything else, creating a clearer world for my horses to be in. What I have learned over the years is that there are certain rituals of self care which HAVE to be put into practice in order to maintain a clear channel of communication with animals and the world around us.
For me a few of these are: exercise, being outside in nature, finding stillness, essential oils, and A LOT of green food goodness.
Five simple ways for me to attend to my energy. Trial and error has taught me to follow the guidelines my body gives me even if my mind has a different idea. I am someone who, in order to work with energy in the way I want to, has to maintain a consistent self-care routine. I used to see this as restrictive but I learned that through practicing discipline the freedom I search for always comes through . We are all unique and all handle / work with different levels of energy for different reasons, so how YOU manage YOU is perfect for you and nobody else.
This relates to horses because the way we show up for ourselves is the way we show up for our animals. When we have found our niche for self-care our channels clear and we can see / hear / feel / know the world around us at a much deeper level. Connecting with our Horses is all an intrinsic part of this.
